lyrics
Burn a memory in my heart, they saw promise from the start
Hallelujah once and future king
I got lost inside my head, history calling from the edge
I fought my demons with a bigger swing
And I’m just chasing time
So I will sing my song in the bright lights of New York
I’ll raise my voice in the bright lights of London
I’ll say my piece anywhere the taste of glory is raw and alive
Play to win but just remember, fame is a game, art is forever
Are you a prisoner or a shooting star?
But do you know how much it stings to hit your knees and kiss the ring?
That’s when you find out who you really are
And I’m just holding on
So I will sing my song in the bright lights of Nashville
I’ll raise my voice in the bright lights of Paris
I’ll say my piece anywhere the taste of glory is raw on the tongue
And I’m just holding on to get through tomorrow
I’m holding on to live out my name
I’m just holding you, giving you my love
To carry us over the line, I’d give my
Body and soul, who is the one who has control?
Who is the master of my heart?
You felt close to God but nowhere near it
Cash poor but rich in spirit
You can’t kill your fear, it only makes you
Someone worth loving
So I will sing my song in the bright lights of Texas
I’ll raise my voice in the heat of the night
I will say my piece anywhere to know
That I am here and alive
Sing it for you
It had been far too long since I'd checked in on Belle and Sebastian, and I regret I've been away so long. Stuart Murdoch is an incredible song writer and their are some excellent tracks here. Prophets On Hold, Do It For Your Country, and Unnecessary Drama are Belle and Sebastian at their best. sentient meat
Fave song, "Will I tell you a Secret". Bell & Sebastian have this incredible mood of keeping simple what has to be simple. A song, is a song and is a song. António José Silva
On their latest LP, the Austin group peel away the synth and distortion to highlight the jangly melodies at the core of their songs. Bandcamp Album of the Day Mar 9, 2022
