lyrics
The scars they will heal, the time it can’t steal
The lust from your eyes, in danger but real
The song in your voice, the history in mine
It anchors my belief, haunts me at night
They judge the brown skin like birth was my sin
A culture on the wire, divided within
The spirit knows why but the body knows how
Defining our world by who we are now
Are you the heroine, ancient undercover
In a simple life, just burning in the darkness?
Bombed out in the blitz, the underground scene
Drinking from the source, reeling from belief
The empire moans, the worlds become one
The dreams of the father realized in the son
And under my clothes I’m naked again
Just ruthless on the lam like I was back then
The spirit knows why but the body knows how
Defining our world by who we are now
Are you the heroine, ancient undercover
In a simple life, just burning in the darkness
You’re the one true hero dancing in
The beauty of another fire, another fire, another fire
And no you never knew how human life could change you
Into something else, just hungry for the kill
You’re the one true hero dancing in
The beauty of another fire, another fire, another fire
The more that I love you, the more that I understand my shame
Can you find your grip tonight in this dark and empty street?
A body with no rules, can you see the world behind my eyes
As I run, run home beside you?

It had been far too long since I'd checked in on Belle and Sebastian, and I regret I've been away so long. Stuart Murdoch is an incredible song writer and their are some excellent tracks here. Prophets On Hold, Do It For Your Country, and Unnecessary Drama are Belle and Sebastian at their best. sentient meat
